Sears Gallagher (American, 1869-1955) Rocky Landscape with House, Possibly the John Willey House, Monhegan Island, Maine. Signed "Sears Gallaher" l.r. Watercolor on paper, sight size 8 3/4 x 11 3/4 in., framed. Condition: Not examined out of frame. N.B. Beginning in 1946, the artist Alice Kent Stoddard Pearson resided at the John Willey House where Sears Gallagher was a frequent visitor. A photograph of the house is reproduced in Ruth Grant Faller, Monhegan: Her Houses and Her People, 1780-1970 ; a photocopy of the relevant page accompanies the lot.
