Hartness, c. mid-20th century, a fixed bale M1 front seam helmet shell with a brigadier general single star on the front, and an outline of helmet netting, inside the shell is marked H.N HARTNESS/012268 ; a signal corps image of General Hartness wearing this helmet during the German surrender of Metz, France, and a two-star flak helmet and liner, both painted with two stars on the front. Provenance: The collection of Jay Gaynor.
