Melanie Bost (French, act. Early 19th Century) Portrait Miniature of a Child. Signed "M. Bost" in gold paint along right edge. Watercolor on ivory, 1 1/2 x 1 1/4 in., in a gold frame with etched floral devices and cobalt enamel set with cabochon stones, mother-of-pearl backing. Note: Melanie Bost was a student of the celebrated French miniaturist Jean Baptiste Augustin (1759-1832).
