Gebelein Sterling Silver Flatware Service, Boston, c. 1934, all with a yacht to terminal numbered 89, the reverse engraved "P/T*E" and "June 7, 1934," comprised of sixteen teaspoons, eight each: dinner forks, hollow dinner knives, tablespoons, luncheon forks, hollow luncheon knives, salad forks, soupspoons, dessert spoons, fruit spoons, solids spreaders, oyster forks, ice tea spoons, and demitasse spoons, six hollow fruit knives, three hollow carving sets of varying sizes: a roast fork, knife, and sharpener, a game fork and knife, and a bird fork and knife; two gravy ladles and large casserole serving spoons, a soup ladle, sauce ladle, sugar spoon, preserve spoon, cold meat serving fork, pie knife, pierced serving spoon, tomato server, dish gravy spoon, serving fork with flared tines, serving spoon with a rounded bowl, and a salad serving fork, approx. 162.6 troy oz. weighable silver. Provenance: This custom service was purportedly ordered from Gebelein by John J. Raskob upon the marriage of his daughter Elizabeth to Timothy D. Parkman. While both Timothy Parkman and John Raskob were yachting enthusiasts, the marriage announcement in the Chicago Times also heralds Elizabeth's skill as a skipper.
