Aaron Smith Thirty-hour Pine Tall Clock, Ipswich, Massachusetts, June 29th, 1781, case with broad, flat crown molding over a glazed door over the composite brass 10-in. dial with pewter Roman numeral chapter ring, brass name boss in the arch engraved Aaron Smith/June ye 29th/1781 and gilt pewter spandrels, wrought iron hands, the whole flanked by engaged plain columns, the waist section with rectangular door and wrought iron "H" hinges, all on a flat, molded base, the posted iron frame thirty-hour movement with recoil escapement, rear-mounted countwheel strike, chain suspension of a period canon ball weight in a wrought iron frame and lead counter-weight, ht. 84 in.
