After Philip Campbell Curtis (American, b. 1907) Musicians , edition of 100 plus proofs, published by Armstrong-Prior, Inc. Signed "Philip C Curtis" in pencil l.r., inscribed "Artist Proof" l.l., signed "Curtis" within the matrix l.r., annotated "from the collection rachel ellis" along the margin on the right side. Color screenprint on paper, image size 7 x 7 3/4 in., framed. Condition: Not examined out of frame. Provenance: Ex collection Charles Percy Parkhurst (1913-2008), Williamstown, Massachusetts. Parkhurst was a part of the so-called Williams Art Mafia. He worked as a museum curator, professor, and was one of the "Monuments Men." N.B. A copy of the original invoice from Armstrong-Prior, Inc., dated February 24, 1997, accompanies the lot. The screenprint is based on an original gouache painting by Philip Cutis.
