Two Carved Wood Lintel Friezes, southern India, a large frieze carved with three roundels with petals, with two stylized birds facing the central roundel, surrounded by carved volutes and leaf-forms, and bordered by geometric carvings, 56 x 17 1/2; and a smaller frieze carved with a central figure of a deity, framed by two elephants and their mahouts and a bird at either side, over openwork carvings of scrolling leaves and flowers, 37 x 8 3/4 in. Provenance: Formerly in the collection of Arthur L. and Genevieve S. Funk.
