Carved Mahogany Chest-on-chest, Boston or Salem, Massachusetts, c. 1760-80, the top section with molded and scrolled cresting with floral terminals centering an urn and flame finial over a cockbeaded case of a central fan-carved drawer flanked by two short drawers over four long drawers, flanked by engaged, fluted pilasters, on a base of four drawers all on bracket feet centering a pendant, old refinish, old replaced brasses, (minor imperfections), ht. 84, case wd. 41 3/4, dp. 20 3/4 in. Provenance: Note affixed to drawer interior reads: "This chest was originally owned by Henry Jackson, son of Jonathon Jackson of Newburyport and Boston. Henry was captain of his sailing ship in which he went everywhere..."
