Priscilla Pattison (American, 1919-2013) Abstract Sculpture Signed "P. Pattison" near the base. Bronze, height 8 3/8 in., diameter approximately 2 1/2 in. (20.9 x 6.3 cm), mounted to a wood plinth. Condition: Dust and dirt to interstices. N.B. Born in Chicago, Priscilla Pattison graduated from Wellesley College in the class of 1941 and then served in the US Army from 1942 to 1945, rising to the rank of Captain. After the war, under the GI Bill, Pattison studied at the Art Institute of Chicago and at the Arts Students League in New York with William Zorach, before spending a year in the Paris studio of sculptor, Osipp Zadkine. She went on to teach at Manhattanville College and showed in New York City, later moving to Martha's Vineyard and eventually to Camden, Maine. Two of her sculptures were in the estate of Beverly Sills.
