Carved Poplar Box, John Allen, c. 1904, the lift top with molded edge surrounding geometric motifs, opens to a well with removable tray, on the similarly carved box constructed with round-headed screws, ht. 9 1/4, wd. 21 1/2, dp. 12 1/2 in. Note: The underside of the tray with inscription reading: "This was made Nov. 4th 1904/AND/ Presented By John L. Allen to Ralph L. Allen."
