Walnut Carved Side Chair, Pennsylvania, late 18th century, the serpentine crest centering a carved shell with carved scroll terminals of a pierced splat of intertwining scrolls on a trapezoidal slip seat and square beaded legs joined by stretchers, (minor imperfections), ht. 40 1/2, seat ht. 17 in. Exhibitions: Wadsworth Atheneum, 1984. Note: The original upholstered slip seat of blue and white checked linen and yellow pine frame accompanies the chair.
