Second edition, expanded and corrected, with engraved portrait frontispiece, numerous tables, six engraved figures and 32 engraved plates, (14 fold-out), illustrating the construction and use of dials. Contemporary manuscript inscription to verso title page and ex-libris to front pastedown; inner hinges cracked; intermittent foxing and a few stains; a few plates with small tears at lower edge and light toning to fore edge.
