Artist Note: Claire Falkenstein (1908-1997), an American artist born in Oregon and trained at UC Berkeley, worked in a number of mediums including jewelry but is most closely associated with the large abstract structures she created utilizing a variety of unorthodox materials such as wood, lead, glass and stovepipe wire. Notable achievements include commissioned pieces for the Guggenheim Museum in Venice, Italy and the stained glass windows and other structures at the St. Basil Catholic Church in Los Angeles. 11.00 dwts.
