An illuminated Carta Executoria on vellum, issued in the name of Philip III of Spain, in favor of Melchior del Peso of Valladolid, in Spanish. (Valladolid, May 21, 1614) dated and localized on final leaf. 73ff., many interleaved with silk. 4to, contemporary gilt-decorated Spanish goatskin over wooden boards, two full-page large miniatures with gilt frames, 13 5-line initials and 10 large chapter headings in gilt on red backgrounds, manuscript text in brown ink, notary endorsement in lower margin of each page, full page endorsement at end signed by nobility. Some light wear to binding with spine ends chipped; a few stains; some protective sheets torn. Full-page large miniature at 3v featuring the royal family, Philip III, Margaret, their three sons and two daughters, flanked by Saints Peter and Paul, with the Virgin Mary hovering above, with full gilt border frame featuring scrolling foliage around cartouche portraits of four saints, "Don Felipe" in gilt on red background. Full-page large miniature at 4r featuring the newly bestowed coat-of-arms of Melchior, with full gilt border frame featuring armor and weaponry.
