original white boards stamped in gilt with gilt-lettered roan onlay, a. e.g., full roan morocco hinged box lined in velvet and satin by Sangorski and Sutcliffe, modern tortoise shell magnifying glass, same size and shape as the original but with more magnification. President Franklin Delano Roosevelt's copy with his bookplate tipped to the bottom of the case, numbered 1385, and manuscript initials to the verso f.f.e.p. Together with typed letter from Duttons, Inc., n.d., stating "Mr. Astor says if you happen to have one of these almanacs, will you please exchange it for anything else that appeals to you." Previous owners manuscript notation on front cover of plain archival box states it was purchased by Roosevelt in 1936, although the letter suggests it was a gift from John Jacob Astor. 3/4 x 5/8 inch.
