late 18th/early 19th century, after an engraving by Charles-Melchior Descourtis, depicting the scene of Virginie au Tombeau, with the sailor standing next to a ship's mast before Virginie, with a tumultuous sea in the background, contained in the original carved and giltwood frame and inscribed artists name on the back panel in ink. Height of image 23 1/4 x width 17 1/2 inches.
