Typed letter signed ("Thomas Mann"), one page, on personal letterhead, October 16, 1944. To Charles Nelson. Mann informs Nelson that he is unable to provide him with the requested quotation by the French philosopher Henri Bergson as his copies of Bergson's works, along with the majority of his library, were lost upon his flight from Germany in 1933. Two vertical creases; one horizontal crease. 8 x 7 inches.
