1940. Multi-cel set-up, gouache on trimmed celluloid applied to a hand-painted watercolor background, depicting Gepetto creating Pinocchio while holding Figaro. Framed and matted. Unattributed, unsigned, likely Claude Coats, sheet tipped to cardboard, three cels trimmed (including Pinocchio with long strings trimmed closely) and pasted to what appears to be an original watercolor background, with the verso of the cardboard annotated Seq. 1.1, Sc. 60.2 in black crayon. Sheet embossed in the lower right corner "1939 Walt Disney Prod." and written in pencil 11-60, original animation paper with five holes. 11 1/2 x 12 inches.
