Illustrated with frontispiece portrait and 61 chromolithographed plates (vol. 1: 26, frontispiece; vol. 3: 35). 2-inch portion of binding vol. 1 detached; wear to boards with some loss, mainly vol. 1, to cloth and spine ends; hinges starting on both vols.; manuscript ex-libris both vols.; frontispiece vol. 1 detached and laid in; a few stains, mainly at preliminaries; otherwise plates are clean and text is largely free of markings.
