[4], 105, [1], including final leaf blank. 8vo, rebacked retaining portions of contemporary calf boards, custom cloth chemise and morocco-backed slipcase, errata to verso final leaf. First Latin edition (an edition in German was published the same year) of Rueff's work on midwifery. With full-page woodcut on title showing a birthing room, and 65 other woodcut illustrations, seven of which are full-page and three after Vesalius. One of the first post-Vesalian illustrated midwifery texts, which was recognized as the standard for over a century after its publication. Rueff combined practical information gathered from Zurich women with material from extant works on midwifery, including Vesalius' (1543). Hinges cracked and strengthened with portion of the text starting to detach from backstrip; manuscript ex-libris to title page.
