(Edinburgh: Printed for Robert Cadell), 1829-1835. 100 vols. Complete Works. 8vo, each volume bound differently by Zaehnsdorf of London, all signed. This unique set was sent by Zaehnsdorf personally to the St. Louis World's Fair in 1904 as representative of binder's artistry and is accompanied by the original typed letter signed by Zaehnsdorf explaining that this set was exhibited at the St. Louis Exhibition as samples of his best bindings. Each bound differently in the following shades totalling 100 vols.: 28 titles in 66 vols. bound in various shades of tan, brown and cordovan, all with gilt decorations, some with small red onlay; four titles in 17 vols. in red with gilt decorations; five titles in 15 vols. in green with gilt decorations; one title in 2 vols. in blue with gilt decorations. The brown spines are in various shades because they were originally blues and greens that have lost the colored dye; otherwise all vols. are in fine condition.
