Second edition of Staunton's personal account of the first visit of a British Ambassador to China (1790s). Engraved frontispiece portrait to volume 1 and numerous engravings throughout depicting Staunton's account is noteworthy for his detailed description of the journey, his examination of Chinese customs and the detailed appendix on Chinese trade with Europe. Spines slightly bowed; otherwise a very fine set.
