Paris: Fabiani, 1942. 4to, bound by the Lakeside Press, Chicago, in 3/4 red morocco over marbled boards, five raised bands, gilt titles to spine, marbled endpapers, original wrappers bound in at the rear. One of 135 on velin de Vidalon, from a total edition of 226. Slight rubbing to boards; otherwise fine. Complete with 31 etched plates by Pablo Picasso, commissioned by Vollard, to accompany the Count of Buffon's monumental in 1936, but published after Vollard's death by Fabiani in 1942. Minor rubbing to boards at outer edge; slight offsetting from some plates; otherwise very fine.
