Paris: Nicolas Bonfons, 1584. 4to, 18th Century mottled calf, five raised bands, gilt tooling to spine. Illustrated with six woodcuts in-text, including one to title page. First edition of this early account of Arthurian legend. Period inscription on front pastedown indicating that the book was sold at the auction of the library of Madame de Pompadour (no. 1605, p. 197). Scuffing and edgewear to binding; front board loosely attached; title page soiled and remounted with some missing portions drawn in; doodles on verso of last leaf; leaf Aii supplied in photocopy; leaf Aiii remounted; otherwise a sound copy.
