A leaf of the Christmas Vespers, 15th or 16th Century. Antiphony manuscript on vellum. Contains the beginning of the text of the Christmas Vespers: "In vigila natiuitatis domini nostri iesu christi ad vesperas antiphona: Rex pacificus gloria domini et videbit onis caro salutari dei nostri." The "R" of "Rex" is illuminated with a large scene, highlighted in gold, of Mary and Joseph in a barn with donkey in the background. General light soiling; chipping and browning to bottom leaf-hand corner; slight dampstaining to text on recto; otherwise sound. 33 x 23 inches.
