Chinese, 19th century, possibly earlier. Hand carved wood figural sculpture depicting a seated Buddha with remnants of gilt finish and worming to wood. Seated Buddha with calm and content facial expression, elongated earlobes, crown, draped rope, and resting hands (palm up) in lap above lotus posed legs. Verso of figure with oval niche and wood fill in at back of figure's neck, likely from original mount. Unmarked. Height 11.25".
