(Dutch, 1596-1673) ca. 1640 Important example of early European cartography done in the carte-de-figures style. Map extends west to include Iceland and the non-existent island of Frisland. City views of Amsterdam, Prague, Constantinople, Venice, Rome, Paris, London, Toledo, and Lisbon line the top while sides are flanked with ten examples of the indigeneous dress of various countries. Later handcolor, laid to board, creases and repairs visible. 16 1/8 x 21 7/8 inches.
