Italian, mid 18th century. Oil on canvas painting by Panini-uncertain as to whether the work was executed by the father, Giovanni Paolo Panini (Italian, 1690-1765) or his son, Francesco Panini (Italian, circa 1720 after 1794). Oil on canvas painting with large and imposing Classical Roman architecture at left with figures in the foreground. Some figures exiting building, some conversing in groups, others walking toward buildings in the rocky and hilly distance. Large white billowy clouds hand overhead. Unsigned. Verso with original Davison's Corner Shop, Atlanta, Georgia paper label with pencil inscription in "History" section that reads "Bought by Helen McCrary Randall July 17, 1952".Framed 55 inches x 46 inches. Unframed 46 inches x 36.75 inches.
