Louis Royer (Netherlandish 1793-1868), Rembrandt van Rijn. Patinated bronze figural sculpture of the 17th century Dutch artist Rembrandt standing three-quarters turned and at full length with his hands crossed in front of him holding an artist's tool in his right hand. Rembrandt depicted in his typical dress including his hat and long cloak. Book behind the figure with the initials "R.V.R" for Rembrandt van Rijn. Also, behind the male figure is a rectangular pedestal form with a laurel wreath draped on top of a painter's palette with four paintbrushes above another open book. Plinth form signed and dated "L. Royer 1849". Figure raised on a square form base. Height 18 inches.
