THIS LOT IS BEING SOLD WITHOUT RESERVE PROVENANCE: Inherited by the present owner from Maria Fedorovskaya, Ukrainian ? migr?, renowned gypsy dancer, and later founder of the famous New York Russian restaurant, the Virgin and the Christ Child surrounded by 9 Martyrs including Pelagia, Aviv, Samon and Gurry. Gilt silver oklad with repousse robes and an ornate ivy border. Oklad with Cyrillic maker`s mark of 'SCh', Cyrillic assayer`s mark of 'AR 1895', '84 standard'. Four insert splints on side edges. Egg tempera and gesso on wood panel. 31.4 x 26.7 cm (12 1/4 x 10 1/2 in.)
