Part of the arsenal of the fearsome Uruk-hai this arrow was created by Weta Workshop’s armoury department for the production of The Lord of the Rings trilogy (New Line Cinema, 2001, 2002, 2003). The Uruk-hai, bred by Saruman by crossing Orcs with Goblins to create a indestructible army, were armed with a vicious array of industrial weaponry including large recurve bows fashioned from wood and steel that fired a heavy iron tipped arrow. These can be seen being used by the longbowmen of Saruman’s and Sauron’s armies at numerous points throughout the trilogy, most notably at the battles of Helm’s Deep and Gondor. This arrow is created from wood with a resin head for the safety of the cast and crew that has been carefully painted to resemble hand beaten iron and is fletched with a tarred fur that is intended to be Warg fur.
