A lot of spliced mouthpieces, diagrams, and notes Gordon created in his studies to develop a better mouthpiece for the trumpet. A presentation accompanies the mouthpieces entitled “Claude Gordon Library of Spliced Mouthpieces For Trumpet, Measurements and Aerodynamics." In his studies, Gordon spliced 10 different mouthpiece models to compares their construction in order to maximize airflow. The presentation also compares the spliced formation of various previous trumpet masters side by side to Claude Gordon personal mouthpiece. Negatives and slides of all the photographs Gordon took undertaking this study are also included in this lot. Notes include hand written pages as well as photocopied pages.
