Citing his time in the media spotlight due to his love triangle with Barbara Payton and Franchot Tone, Neal writes in part “Marriage is rough enough without taking on an added burden of marrying someone who doesn’t understand the film industry.” Accompanied by the original transmittal envelope postmarked October 1954.
