A cowl worn by Michelle Pfeiffer as Catwoman/Selina Kyle in Batman Returns (Warner Bros. , 1992) directed by Tim Burton. The custom fabricated cowl includes strands of hair, makeup and adhesive residue on the surface of the cowl’s interior, and the aluminum bridge inserted inside the nosepiece has been removed. Pfeiffer appeared as Catwoman throughout most of the film, and her costume went through three stages of deterioration as the story progressed. This “stage 3” production tattered cowl is seen after the Penguin’s (Danny Devito) helicopter umbrella carries Catwoman and drops her into a glass greenhouse. It is most notably seen when Max Schreck (Christopher Walken) escapes from the Penguin’s cage within the abandoned Gotham Zoo and is pulled from the water by Selina Kyle. Batman (Michael Keaton) tries to prevent Kyle from killing Schreck by removing his mask to reveal that he is Bruce Wayne. Production sculptor José Fernandez was commissioned to create the sculpture of the Catwoman cowl and was used to create the positive foam latex cowls worn by Pfeiffer. Accompanied by a copy of the film. Click To Request A Condition Report Categories: Michelle Pfeiffer
