Three black and white publicity photographs, one signed, “Sin-cerely, Mae West. ” One photograph shows West as Diamond Lil from the 1933 film "She Done Him Wrong" (Paramount Pictures). Edith Head designed West’s wardrobe for the film, costumes that West was allegedly sewn into. The two became lifelong friends after this film. In The Dress Doctor, Head recalled West saying, “I don’t have much to say here, Edith, let’s do something with this dress so at least they won’t notice what anyone is saying.” The result was the gown featured swallows sewn on from waist to shoulder. 10 1/4 by 8 1/4 inches Categories: Edith Head
