Mixed media on a Les Paul Standard Gibson Electric Guitar. Carved AA maple top, mahogany back and neck with rosewood fingerboard, and BurstBucker Pro pickups. 39 by 13 inches Of this piece the artist says: " As I went through the wildlife most people associate with Texas I found many have scales (horned lizard, snakes, etc…)" 1,200 guitar picks are combined to form the pattern of a diamond back rattlesnake. Karen Ann Smith received a BFA from The Cleveland Institute of Art in Industrial Design. She has worked as a concept designer and sketch artist in the areas of packaging, exhibit and product design and is the recipient of an IDSA Gold Award.
