Mixed glass (mirror glass, stained glass, vitreous tile, ceramic, 24K gold tile, pyrite, shattered tempered glass) on fiberglass, signed by The Dixie Chicks. This Gibson Guitar sculpture includes a photograph of The Dixie Chicks with the guitar. 10 by 3 1/2 feet On the construction of this piece the artist says: "Due to the labor-intensive nature of mosaics, and the detail work in my design, I knew that if I had any hope of finishing by the deadline, I’d need to enlist the help of friends and community members. Much to my delight, I was also able to include a much larger community: hostel guests traveling from all over the world participated with the artistic process. " Dianne Sonnenberg’s glass mosaic work has been featured in international publications, galleries & juried exhibits. “Striking Texas Gold” was created with a variety of glass from all over the world, including lovely reflective gold mirror and recycled tempered glass. Dianne is a member of the Society of American Mosaic Artists and the Creative Arts Society of Austin. She lives in Northwest Austin with her musician husband and two children.
