Black and white large format photograph of Jacqueline Bouvier standing behind her is a friend at her debut in Newport, Rhode Island during the 1946-1947 season. Jackie had two “coming out” parties when she was eighteen. One reception was at Hammersmith Farm that also celebrated her birthday and the christening of her half-brother, Jamie. The second debut occurred at the Clambake Club in Newport, Rhode Island in the summer of 1947. The Clambake Club hosted a debutante ball as the climax of Tennis Week. Her mother wanted her to wear a made to order Dior gown but Jackie chose an off the rack dress that was $60.00. It was off the shoulder and white tulle. 20 by 16 inches Categories: Jacqueline Bouvier
