Card written to Hope from Melville Shavelson, ornamented with a "Good Conduct Ribbon," includes a photograph of Hope and a group of writers. The card was added to Hope's trophy case in October of 1954. Reads in part, "CITATION: FOR HIS PERFORMACE BEFORE AND BEHIND THE CAMERAS OF 'THE SEVEN LITTLE FOYS'; FOR BRAVERY ABOVE AND BEYOND THE CALL OF DUTY..." Signed, "Thanks, Mel" by writer, producer and director Melville Shavelson. Shavelson came to Hollywood in 1938 as one of Bob Hope's joke writers.
