He was honored as “Outstanding Art Student of the Year” from both Mountain View and DBU. Upon graduation, Randy moved his young family to the Austin area and began working as a freelance graphic designer and artist from his own studio in Marble Falls. "When we moved to Austin, we were living on South Congress Avenue right up the street from The Continental Club and the Austin Motel. We could barely afford to pay our rent and nobody knew who the hell we were, but eventually, Steve gave us a regular gig at the Continental every Sunday night and we met a lot of cool musicians that were usually staying at the Austin Motel. We'd take the party back to our place and stay up all night playing music and disturbing the peace. Eventually we got kicked out of that house and got some paying gigs. So when they had us come down to the Gibson Guitar showroom and autograph this huge guitar with the Austin Motel Sign painted on it, we finally felt like we were loc
