Paint medium on a SG standard Gibson Electric Guitar. Mahogany neck and body, rosewood fingerboard, humbucking neck and bridge pick ups. 39 by 13 inches Of this piece the artist states: "Walker Winn is an 8th generation, guitar-playing, card-carrying Texan whose fifth-great grandfather came to America from Ireland in 1816 when the flag of Spain flew over Texas, made his way to the Lone Star State under the Mexican flag in 1829, fought in the Texas Revolution to raise the flag of the Republic of Texas in 1836 and lived to see Texas statehood under the United States flag. Representing the history of Texas with the iconic ‘Six Flags Over Texas’ theme was a natural choice for Winn." Walker Winn Montessori and Waldorf educated and a member of Austin’s rising creative class, making art has long been a valued priority in Winn’s life at school and home. By the age of 18, Walker Winn’s immediately arresting, color-drenched, modern abstract paintings have been shown in galleries and cited as a Best Bet by the Austin American Statesman, selected in juried competitions among professional artists, selected for two public arts projects by the City of Austin and, perhaps most importantly to a young emerging artist, sold to a collector.
