Color poster signed by photographer Richard Avedon Fashion photographer Richard Avedon’s (1923-2004) break came in 1946, when he set up his own studio and started providing photographs for Harper’s Bazaar, Vogue, and Life. He became the first staff photographer for The New Yorker in 1992. He has won many awards for his photography, including the International Center of Photography Master of Photography Award in 1993, the Prix Nadar in 1994 for his photobook Evidence, and the Royal Photographic Society 150th Anniversary Medal in 2003. Jean Harlow (1911-1937) was an American actress and sex symbol, the original “Platinum Blonde” and “Blonde Bombshell.” Originally cast to showcase her beauty she evolved into more meaty roles as a contract player at MGM. She died of renal failure at 26. Jean was one of Marilyn’s idols when she was a child. Although Jean’s mother wanted Marilyn to play the lead in the film Harlow, she refused stating the script did not do the Jean proper justice. 28 by 20 inches Categories: Marilyn Monroe
