A architectural model of the home in Poltergeist II , presented to be a scale model with model furniture, flowers, and exterior decor. The model was used in all exterior shots of the home when no cars or actors would be seen in the shot. Producer Steven Speilberg upended the horror genre by using a simple tract home for his horror film instead of an aging mansion. Accompanied by a letter of authenticity from Richard Edlund who was the visual effects supervisor on the film and a packing crate.
