A 14K white gold, diamond, sapphire, and ruby pocket watch gifted by Jack Dempsey to Bill “Cyclone” Lyons, a former state senator from Colorado. Lyons was the timekeeper for many of fellow Colorado native Jack Dempsey’s fights of the 1920s. The watch is a 17J manual wind with Leonidas Swiss movement. It features a white toned dial with black Arabic chapters and two subsidiary dials embellished by photographed faces of Dempsey, Lyons, and Jack Kerns. The front of the case is entirely surrounded by old mine-cut diamonds. The reverse in blue enamel reads “TO A TRUE FRIEND MY PAL SEN. BILL LYONS, FROM WM. HARRISON (‘JACK’) DEMPSEY, HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION OF THE WORLD, CHRISTMAS 1920.” There is some minor damage to the dial. Also on the reverse is an image of Dempsey set with two round rubies and two round diamonds. The pocket watch features 72 round diamonds totaling approximately 1.45 cts. and graded G-I color and SI clarity. Included is an original 5 by 5 inch vintage photograph of Dempsey presenting the watch to Lyons. Categories:
