A California license plate with the words "ALI BEE" displayed on the plate. In 1976 in Lake Forest, Illinois, Muhammad Ali purchased a 1976 Alfa Romeo Spyder for his wife. She was not able to drive a manual shift at the time, so Ali gifted the '76 Alfa Spyder to a friend who had recently had a car stolen. After helping Ali move to California, the friend registered the car with the California DMV and had the license plate registered with the car in honor of Ali's generous gift.
