An original copy of a "Star Trek: The Next Generation" script titled "The Veiled Planet. " The title of the episode was changed to "The Survivors" and aired in the third season of the show. Forty of the fifty-nine pages have handwritten notations in pencil by Roddenberry. This early version of the episode is substantially different from the final aired version. Roddenberry's notations give a window into the attention to detail he had when reviewing the concepts and dialogue from each episode. Examples include: In reference to a line from Captain Picard "...I'm putting the house under full surveillance," Roddenberry's comment is "how?"; in reference to dialogue between crew and the few survivors of the planet Roddenberry writes, "Must ask: Where are the other 10,000 people?"; referencing dialogue between Picard and inhabitants Roddenberry comments, "First question would be - why or how is this dim-star planet so Earth like." These are just a few of the main comments and questions Roddenberry posed to show true to the characters, format and logic of the show, demonstrating what a watchful eye he had over the production of the series. 11 by 8 1/2 inches PROVENANCE From the Estate of Gene and Majel Roddenberry Categories: Star Trek
