A non-firing prop replica Smith & Wesson 36 used by Dominic Chianese as Uncle Junior in the award-winning series The Sopranos (1999-2007). Chianese utilized the weapon in “Members Only” (Season 6, Episode 1) during the pivotal cliffhanger ending when Uncle Junior walks downstairs in a fit of dementia and shoots his nephew Tony Soprano (played by James Gandolfini) in the gut, leaving him to pass out on the kitchen floor while attempting to dial 911. The shooting of Tony by Uncle Junior in the first episode of the sixth season was one of the most shocking and talked about plot twists in the course of the series’ nine-year run and is perhaps one of the best remembered moments for hard core fans of The Sopranos . The actual blank firing weapon used in the scene was a Rossi 36, but for the actors’ safety, this nearly identical Smith & Wesson replica was used in separate parts of the sequence when a live firing weapon was not necessary. The prop has a working trigger, and the circular chamber is removable.
