A plaid period gown worn by Piper Laurie as Rannah Hayes in Dawn at Socorro (Universal, 1954). The gown has a black long-sleeve bodice with ivory lace and velvet trim to the collar and cuffs with a dark green, black, red and yellow plaid wool skirt with large back bow, tails, and black apron with pleated edge. A Universal International label is inscribed “Piper Laurie.” Laurie wears this gown in the final scene while on the train to Colorado with Rory Calhourn as Brett Wade. Dawn at Socorro is a western film also starring David Brian. This film tells the story of gunfighter Brett Wade, who is diagnosed with tuberculosis and is trying to leave his former life while helping Rannah escape from her life as a saloon girl.
