German (Hanau), 19th century. Ornate 800 silver toliet or vanity mirror with oval looking glass on adjustable tilting mirror with elaborate figural, animal, architectural and patterned decoration throughout. Oval mirror with female nude seating on base with large lizards flanked by fencing. Side stacked columnar supports with winged creatures in repousse on bottom, foxes, scrolled foliates, soldiers, and architectural accents. Seated figures with shells and of nymph form at bottom above four lily pad feet on each side. Marked on basin at bottom with pictorial mark and on other elements throughout. Height 18", width 18.5", depth 7.75". Total weight approximately 53.6 troy ounces. Provenance: Sotheby's New York: Important English and Continental Silver and Silver Gilt, October 21, 1998 as Lot 108 whereby acquired by Mrs. Dorothy Edwards, Atlanta, Georgia.
