Ponti states, "bookcases are not spaces to be filled, they are instead vertical surfaces to be composed with books, objects, magazines and also a lighting element. Behind each book shelf there is a fluorescent light, so that you no longer turn on one light, but rather a whole wall" (Domus, 1950).
